- Operating the metropolitan hub to establish a standardized fresh produce logistics system

- Expanding into an integrated fresh logistics platform by combining CPS, packaging, and automation technologies

Korea Container Pool (KCP), an affiliate of LOGISALL Group, has been selected to operate the Seoul Metropolitan Hub Logistics Center under the pilot project for Korea's Online Agricultural Wholesale Market led by the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT).

On July 14, KCP and aT held a project kickoff meeting at LOGISALL headquarters in Mapo-gu, Seoul, where they shared the project's operational direction and implementation plans.

The pilot project aims to improve the inefficiencies of the existing one-to-one transportation model that directly connects production areas with consumption regions, a structure that often results in small-volume, multi-item deliveries. Agricultural products traded through the online wholesale market will be transported to regional hub logistics centers, temporarily stored, sorted, and then consolidated for delivery to their final destinations. By establishing a nationwide logistics network across four regional hubs—Seoul Metropolitan Area (Icheon), Gangwon (Gangneung), Yeongnam (Daegu), and Honam (Gwangju)—the project seeks to improve distribution efficiency for fresh agricultural products while reducing logistics costs.

KCP will operate the aT Icheon Reserve Logistics Base, the metropolitan hub logistics center, in partnership with the aT Online Wholesale Market Operations Division from September 2026 through 2028. During the three-year project period, the company plans to handle approximately 100,000 tons of agricultural products.

As the metropolitan hub serves as the central node connecting the nationwide logistics network, KCP will focus on optimizing trunk transportation and establishing a collaborative logistics operating system to standardize fresh produce logistics. Leveraging its experience in this public logistics project, the company also plans to develop a standardized integrated fresh logistics model that can eventually be expanded to private-sector distribution platforms.

KCP will introduce its proprietary smart insulated container, COCON, into the inspection and delivery processes at the hub logistics center. Equipped with RFID and IoT technologies, COCON enables real-time tracking of location, movement history, and temperature conditions. The solution is expected to enhance product freshness and quality while providing the foundation for a digital cold chain management platform.

The company will also integrate the hub logistics center with its existing Container Pooling System (CPS) business to encourage greater participation by current CPS customers in the online wholesale market. In addition, KCP will utilize its packaging R&D capabilities to develop and apply dedicated Unit Load packaging trays for agricultural products, contributing to the establishment of a standardized fresh produce logistics system.

Beyond logistics operations, KCP plans to build an integrated product supply model that combines value-added services such as repacking, joint procurement, strategic purchasing, and sales support. By leveraging LOGISALL Group's logistics systems, autonomous forklifts, and AI-based logistics consulting capabilities, the company aims to continuously strengthen its service competitiveness and establish a new growth platform in the fresh logistics market.

A KCP representative said, "This project represents more than the operation of a regional logistics hub. It marks an important first step toward establishing a standardized logistics system for fresh agricultural products in Korea. Building on our expertise in pooling systems, packaging, and cold chain operations, we will improve the efficiency and quality of agricultural distribution while expanding our business into an integrated fresh logistics platform serving both the public and private sectors."
