- A Pioneer of Logistics Innovation Leading the Modernization and Standardization of South Korea's Logistics Industry
- Award Ceremony Held at Lotte Hotel Seoul on the 27th
Byong-yoon Suh, Chairman of LOGISALL Group, has been selected as the recipient of the "28th Gwanak Award," the highest honor bestowed by the Seoul National University (SNU) Alumni Association.
The SNU Alumni Association presented the award to Chairman Suh during the "28th Gwanak Award Ceremony and General Assembly" held on the 27th at the Crystal Ballroom of the Lotte Hotel Seoul in Sogong-dong. The Gwanak Award is the most prestigious recognition given to alumni among the 600,000 graduates of Seoul National University who have significantly contributed to national and social development, thereby enhancing the reputation of the institution.
Chairman Suh was highly commended for laying the foundation for industrial modernization in the 1980s—a period when the domestic logistics industry was largely underdeveloped—by introducing the "Unit Load System" (ULS) for the first time in South Korea. Notably, he spearheaded national logistics standardization by successfully establishing the "Pallet and Container Pooling System," which allows companies to share logistics resources. This collaborative model has been instrumental in reducing costs and improving efficiency across various industries.
Furthermore, Chairman Suh has played a pivotal role in elevating the status of South Korean logistics to a global level. He led the creation of the Asia Pallet System Federation (APSF) to standardize logistics across South Korea, China, and Japan, serving as its chairman and helping to define international standards for pooling systems. Recently, he has been at the forefront of building a sustainable logistics ecosystem by integrating the concept of the "Physical Internet" (PI) into field operations to maximize Global Supply Chain Management (SCM) efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
In addition to his business leadership, Chairman Suh currently serves as the President of the "Gwanak Economics Association," a central network for SNU alumni in the business sector, where he remains dedicated to strengthening alumni relations.
"Looking back, the 50-year journey in logistics has not been an easy one. However, I am deeply honored and happy to be recognized for contributing to the advancement of Korean logistics and participating in the growth of the global logistics industry," said Chairman Suh during his acceptance speech. He added, "I share this honor with Seoul National University, the Alumni Association, and all my fellow alumni. LOGISALL Group will continue to innovate and do its best to grow into a world-class leader in the logistics industry."
