– Led by the Korea Institute of Logistics and LOGISALL Group
– Collaboration with Prof. Benoit Montreuil of Georgia Tech, Founder of the Physical Internet
The inaugural general meeting of the Korea CLO Council (KCCLO) was held on January 20 at the Korea Press Center in Seoul, hosted by the Korea Institute of Logistics (KIL) and sponsored by LOGISALL Group. The event marked a starting point for industry-wide collaboration aimed at introducing and expanding LAPI (Logistics Alliance for Physical Internet), Korea’s localized implementation of the Physical Internet. Approximately 200 executives and professionals from the distribution and logistics sectors attended the event.
Following the launch, KIL officially began operations of the Korea CLO Council as a corporate collaboration platform designed to strengthen inter-company cooperation and drive shared logistics innovation.
Keynote Addresses Present the Direction for Physical Internet Adoption
In his opening remarks, Byongyoon Suh, Chairman of the Korea Institute of Logistics, stated, “We aim to elevate the status of the logistics industry—an essential foundation of both domestic and global industries—and take on the challenge of transforming company-specific logistics operations into a shared logistics system.” He added, “Through parallel cooperation with the U.S., Europe, and Japan, we will lead logistics innovation on a global scale.”
The keynote address was delivered by Professor Benoit Montreuil of the Georgia Institute of Technology, the founder of the Physical Internet. In his presentation titled ‘The Physical Internet Paradigm for Smart, Hyperconnected, and Sustainable Logistics and Supply Chains,’ Professor Montreuil outlined global implementation strategies and pathways for validation and expansion through international logistics communities.
Session Presentations Share the LAPI Vision and Execution Roadmap
During the Physical Internet session, Professor Sung-Ho Hur of Seoul National University’s Graduate School of Environmental Studies presented on ‘The Direction of Logistics Innovation in the Era of Digital and Green Transformation.’
In addition, LOGISALL Group executives—including CEO Dochan Seo, CEO Minoh Kwon, and Executive Director Heewon Chae—shared insights into the LAPI vision, unit load-based implementation cases, and the development of operational protocols.
LAPI is a shared, resource-pooling logistics model based on the principles of the Physical Internet, combined with LOGISALL Group’s Total Logistics Alliance strategy. By standardizing and interconnecting logistics assets and operations, LAPI aims to enhance efficiency across companies while simultaneously achieving cost reduction and carbon emissions mitigation.
Korea CLO Council Expected to Serve as an Industry Platform for LAPI Validation and Expansion
A KIL representative stated, “By positioning the Korea CLO Council as the core driving force behind LAPI, we plan to validate shared logistics systems and solutions through participating companies and gradually expand them across the industry.” The representative added, “As the role of CLOs—who oversee corporate logistics and supply chain operations—continues to grow amid rapidly changing global conditions, the Council will take the lead in establishing and spreading next-generation logistics systems.”
