– EGG LAPI honored for advancing efficiency and sustainability in the egg distribution industry
– “We will continue developing eco-friendly, digitally powered logistics equipment.”
Korea Container Pool (KCP), an affiliate of the LOGISALL Group, received the top honor—the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award—at the 22nd Korea Pallet & Container Industry Awards held on November 11. Hosted during the annual “Pallet Day” event organized by the Korea Pallet & Container Association (KPCA), the awards recognize organizations and individuals that have contributed to logistics advancement, standardization, and industrial innovation.
KCP has been honored for three consecutive years for its continued efforts to improve logistics standardization through innovative unit load packaging solutions. This year’s award recognizes EGG LAPI, a reusable smart container designed specifically for egg storage and transport, which enhances both operational efficiency and environmental sustainability in the egg distribution industry.
EGG LAPI is a returnable packaging solution that replaces traditional single-use corrugated boxes. It reduces breakage through reinforced protection, improves freshness retention, and enables better distribution data management. Designed to comply with unit load standards, it achieves 95% loading efficiency on T-11 pallets and maintains 676 kgf of compression strength when stacked three levels high—significantly improving product protection and logistics safety.
According to KCP’s internal analysis, EGG LAPI can deliver an estimated KRW 12 billion in annual loss reduction, 1,200 tons of waste reduction, and a 25% improvement in logistics efficiency. Made entirely from polypropylene, it offers easy recyclability and operates under a full pooling system covering production, distribution, collection, and reuse—supporting zero-waste logistics.
EGG LAPI also incorporates smart logistics functions through QR codes and RFID tags, enabling real-time tracking of production date, origin, expiration date, and other distribution data. It connects seamlessly with LOGISALL’s LAPI (Logistics Alliance for Physical Internet) network, supporting data-driven, efficient logistics operations aligned with the Physical Internet vision.
Currently, EGG LAPI is jointly used by more than 50 customers in Korea, with overseas expansion also underway through LOGISALL’s global network. KCP plans to further advance reusable logistics equipment across food, retail, industrial goods, and other sectors, contributing to carbon neutrality and sustainable logistics innovation.
A KCP spokesperson stated, “EGG LAPI is more than a packaging material—it is an advanced smart logistics platform built on data connectivity. We will continue developing innovative products that integrate eco-friendly returnable containers with digital technologies, strengthening our competitiveness both in Korea and globally.”
Meanwhile, KPCA designated November 12 as “Pallet Day,” inspired by standard pallet sizes T-11 and T-12, and hosts an annual commemorative event featuring the Global Unit Load System Conference, the Korea Pallet & Container Industry Awards, and the Unit Load System Creativity Contest.
In addition to KCP receiving the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award, Samsung Electronics Logitec (Pallets), Coupang–Rocket Fresh QA (Containers), and Myongji College Honorary Professor Eom Jae-kyun (Individual Contribution) received Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy commendations, while seven companies and five individuals received additional distinctions.
