– Integrating energy IT technologies to enhance logistics site operations and ESG performance
LOGISALL, operator of Korea’s largest logistics network, has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with clean-energy specialist Gridwiz to promote energy efficiency within the logistics industry and reinforce ESG-driven operations. The agreement was formalized on November 12, with both companies committing to jointly develop a smart logistics operation model powered by energy IT technologies.
For years, LOGISALL has led logistics standardization in Korea, providing supply chain management (SCM) services to more than 350,000 companies. As the logistics industry faces rising pressure to improve both cost efficiency and ESG performance, this partnership is expected to accelerate the sector’s transition toward environmentally sustainable operations by combining Gridwiz’s energy-management technology with LOGISALL’s logistics infrastructure expertise.
The collaboration will begin with improving the energy efficiency of forklifts—one of the most electricity-intensive areas in logistics operations. The companies plan to replace existing lead-acid batteries with long-life, high-efficiency lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and apply OCPP, the global standard for charging control technology, to centrally manage charging schedules. These measures will help reduce electricity costs and mitigate peak loads. LOGISALL will also enhance the performance and long-term stability of its solar power plants by adopting Gridwiz’s professional O&M (operation and maintenance) services. Additionally, energy-use patterns at logistics centers will be analyzed to provide tailored energy-saving consulting, generating tangible ESG outcomes.
Through this partnership, LOGISALL is expected to strengthen its ESG strategy by simultaneously lowering electricity costs at logistics centers, improving forklift operation efficiency, and stabilizing renewable-energy assets. According to McKinsey, the logistics and transportation sector accounts for more than 7% of global greenhouse gas emissions, making this collaboration a valuable contribution not only to Korea’s sustainability goals but also to global decarbonization efforts.
Kim Hana, Head of New Energy at LOGISALL, stated, “Integrating logistics and energy opens the door to a wide range of new business opportunities. Through our collaboration with Gridwiz, we will expand logistics-energy convergence services—starting with smart forklift solutions that are both eco-friendly and cost-efficient.”
Ahn Moosung, Executive Director at Gridwiz, added, “Logistics sites involve complex electricity networks, including forklifts, logistics equipment, and solar power systems. By leveraging Gridwiz’s energy IT technologies, we will support more efficient site operations and help the logistics industry achieve meaningful improvements in energy savings and ESG performance.”
